The website of the Federal Ministry of Health states the following about outpatient care at home: "If you have decided to care for a loved one at home, long-term care insurance offers you various types of assistance and benefits. If the need for care arises, those in need of care have a choice: they can opt for care benefits in kind, which are, for example, care services provided by licensed outpatient care services that are paid for by the care insurance fund up to certain maximum limits, or take advantage of cash benefits such as care allowance, which is paid to those in need of care by the care insurance fund or private insurance company."
